Early days:
Adam
Elsheimer
was born on March 18,1578 in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany.He was
one of ten children as well as the son of a master-tailor. He
got trained under the artist Philipp Uffenbach.When he turned
twenty, he travelled to Italy via Munich, where he is documented
in 1598.

Career:
His considerable few paintings were small scale, mostly
all painted on copper plates, of the type often known as cabinet paintings.
His paintings include a mixture of light effects, and a pioneering
treatment of landscape. He influenceds several other artists,
including Rembrandt and Peter Paul Rubens.
Adam Elsheimer is known to have produced some prominent
works in Venice, such as "The Baptism of Christ"
, "The Holy Family" which portrays
the influence of the Venetian painters Tintoretto and Paolo Veronese,
as well as Rottenhammer.Rottenhammer was a German who had been living
in Italy for couple of years, and was the first German painter to master
cabinet paintings.Adam Elsheimer died at the young age of 32 and was
extremely influential in the 17th century.
