Guyton/Walker's installation at The Green Naftali Art Gallery
August 6, 2009
A unique show is being held at the Green Naftali Art Gallery,Chelsea,Manhattan with the latest installation of Guyton/Walker who also are pursuing flourishing careers. This installation which is a collaboration of Wade Guyton and Kelley Walker is designed uniquely and has in depth visualizations.
The chiefly silk-screened paintings references several generations worth of artists, motifs and tactics. What is eye-catching is the merging of the out-of-this-world color and pattern.Additionally, the returning stripes, dots, abstracted flags, monochrome fields and Op Art resembles the staples of 1950s and '60s abstract painting. Guyton/Walker's explorations of the means of mechanical reproduction mostly silkscreen is extremely perceptive. And if observed closely the patterns are carefully knit together, seldom combined with real paint. This creates a uniqueness which makes the paintings precious.
