August 26, 2009

A finger painting event for children was hosted by Northern Ireland Child Minding Association (NICMA) last week, held in Belfast Zoo Carpark, Belfast,UK.This event was organized by NICMA to mark its 25th anniversary celebrations.

Thousands of children participated in this event and it is hoped that this event has very scope of making its way into the Guinness Book of World Records with the world's largest finger painting. However for this to happen, they need to exceed the current record of 2000 square metre painting which was done in Austria in the year 2007.

The participants included more than 4,000 children ,using around 1000 ltrs of paint and painting on around 3500 m of canvas.

Bridget Nodder,NICMA's Director said that this spectacular ,unique and ambitious event will offer an immense opportunity for children to get occupied in a creative project which is of terrific fun.On a more serious note she added that the event is serving to emphasize the precious role of NICMA and the thousands of child minders who have great concern for children in Northern Ireland.

Two adjudicators permitted by Guinness World Records are presently examining the artwork to check and confirm if it is a new record. The newest painting was stitched collectively at the Belfast zoo carpark to create a massive 22,496.5sq ft canvas.

Guyton/Walker's installation at The Green Naftali Art Gallery

August 6, 2009

A unique show is being held at the Green Naftali Art Gallery,Chelsea,Manhattan with the latest installation of Guyton/Walker who also are pursuing flourishing careers. This installation which is a collaboration of Wade Guyton and Kelley Walker is designed uniquely and has in depth visualizations.

The chiefly silk-screened paintings references several generations worth of artists, motifs and tactics. What is eye-catching is the merging of the out-of-this-world color and pattern.Additionally, the returning stripes, dots, abstracted flags, monochrome fields and Op Art resembles the staples of 1950s and '60s abstract painting. Guyton/Walker's explorations of the means of mechanical reproduction mostly silkscreen is extremely perceptive. And if observed closely the patterns are carefully knit together, seldom combined with real paint. This creates a uniqueness which makes the paintings precious.
