This is an oil painting by John Singleton Copley. This painting depicts an attack by a shark and the rescue of an Englishman from the shark in Havana, Cuba. The shocking part about this painting is that the artist had never been to Havana and ever had he seen a shark attack. Sources said that he could have referred any book to execute this painting. It is suspected that this might be the reason for the viewer’s dissatisfaction of the shark’s face, lips, etc...
